WE MUST NOT FORGET THOSE IN PRISON

Top Causes Of Homelessness.

While the general impression is the homelessness are primarily the chronic and episodic, those unfortunate individuals often seen living on the streets in the downtown areas of our cities, the fact is that more than half the homeless are families with children who are susceptible to the dangers on the streets. The vast majority of these have been through life altering and unforeseen events, which has thrust them into homelessness. Contrary to belief the major traumatic events or physical or mental disabilities, health issues, loss of loved ones, depression, loss of a job. Domestic Violence, divorce or family disputes. For those living in poverty, it can make a difference from those who make higher wages, for those living in or close to the poverty line, an everyday life issue that may be with a higher income can be the final factor in placing them on the street, such as a broken-down vehicle, or an unpaid ticket might render someone homeless.

What We Do.

We minister at the Presbyterian Night Shelter for men on the 3rd Saturday of every month, and on the 1st Saturday of every month, we minister at the women’s side of the shelter.  Every Monday I minister at the True Worth Place, and every other Monday, I minister at the Union Gospel Mission. The Union Gospel Mission is in need of a sub 1 volunteer.
